The Process

At the heart of my garden design process is communication and collaboration. Between you and I, and with our trusted landscapers, expert plant growers and specialist suppliers.

Our end goal is you enjoying the garden you dream of, but it's really important to me that the journey is also a pleasure!

Step 1: Free Discovery Call

Garden Design Free Discovery call

This is the starting point of our journey to transform your garden.

During our friendly 30 minute call I will hear your aspirations for your outside space, talk you through our garden design process, and answer any questions you might have.

Clients have found this first step "really helped me understand my connection to the garden and what I actually need from it"

You can email me here to book your free discovery call.

Step 2: Client Brief

garden designer site survey

Meeting you at your home we dig deeper now and explore in detail what you need both practically and emotionally from your outdoor space. I also get a feel for the essence of the site at this visit, and the connection between house and garden.

From here I write up a transformation action plan, including the broad vision for the garden, a breakdown of the design process, and my design fee proposal.

Step 3: Concept Design

This is the alchemy. Weaving your dreams for your garden together with the spirit of the garden itself - guided by my expertise and inspiration to creative a cohesive, bespoke design.

A full site survey provides a detailed plan of the layout, levels and utilities, whilst my site analysis ensures factors such as soil type, aspect, overlooking and views are considered in the design.

Taking into account your client brief and the site survey and analysis, I produce a scaled outline plan of the concept design, alongside creative sketches to give you a sense of the space. Moodboards and material palettes further inform our discussion on the details of the design, ready to move forward.

Step 4: Masterplan

Detail is key to the vision transforming smoothly and successfully into reality.

Informed by our discussion at the concept design stage, I draw up a detailed scale masterplan and technical construction drawings, including materials chosen. These provide the landscape contractors with all the specifics they need to build your garden.

Step 5: Planting plans

The planting scheme is tailored to both the site and your taste, creating a cohesive long-lasting design that fits your individual aesthetic and thrives in your garden.

The plants are an essential and beloved aspect of our designs, so I work closely with you agan at this point, with plant mood boards, to ensure the planting is just what you’re aiming for.

You receive scaled planting plans (showing the location of each plant) and an ongoing care plan.

Step 6: Construction phase

Taking a creative, calm and constructive approach to project monitoring, I relish this final stage of guiding my clients’ journey from our first ‘ideas’ chat to the garden you dream of.

Excellent project delivery is about ongoing communication and collaboration. In discussion with the caring and considered professional landscapers I recommend, I review anything and everything to provide the smoothest of services and the end result delivered on time and to plan.

Evie has totally transformed our garden.
Evie took real time to understand our hopes for the garden. Her initial sketches were so beautiful we didn’t just want to build the garden, we wanted to frame them.
The result is something really special. We now have a garden that is a joy to look out on, to sit, work or play in... more
